When you place a new order, there’s a chance you’ll receive an email seeking confirmation of your riser’s thickness. This is only applicable for specific riser brands/models.
This crucial step allows us to make precise adjustments, ensuring that the grip you receive fits your riser perfectly, without any installation difficulties or need modification.
In the case of some brand risers, like Win & Win, variations in styles and designs lead to significant differences in thickness.
At our workshop, we have six different Win & Win risers, where the size (25-27 inches) and thickness under the grip can vary between models and batches, influenced by factors like manufacturing date, paint style, and more.
Similar variations may occur with other brands, such as Kinetic, where differences are often attributed to less than stellar machining work (see below).
The need for measurements is specific to riser brands that may exhibit variations in the interface width. If your riser doesn’t fall into that category, we won’t request verification for the dimensions of the interface.
Below you can see a variety of measurements from the same brand and model of a specific riser.
On other brands, there is a wide variation in screw hole positioning as well. For example, most carbon risers have a variance in the placement of the screw hole as this is not tapped from a machine while being manufactured but it is added in a second step. Grips for such risers, like the W&W Nano Max and the W&W Black wolf are manufactured with a slot rather than a screw hole so fitting is guaranteed even with the huge variance.
In some cases though, even when risers are machined, there are still differences between batches. The exact same grip from their brand does not align properly with two same risers of the same brand. See example picture below. In such cases we do not include the riser in our list at all (eg Kinetic Vygo). We can still manufacture grips for them but make sure you are aware of this issue in case the fit is less than perfect.
Below, the original manufacturer’s grip in similar models. On the white one , the screws align correctly. On the green one, you need to adjust the size of the grip to be able to insert the screw. Same manufacturer, same grip.
TL;DR: Some manufacturers of risers have big tolerances in dimensions when making their risers. We do our best to accommodate such variance by asking you to provide a measurement. Some other manufacturers have errors in their machining which we cannot account for when making grips for their risers so we cannot offer fitting guarantee for those brands. In any case, we let you know prior to shipping.
