Choosing a grip: “The Master” vs “I AM. Recurve”

The default angles on Jake’s grips depend on the model. For the I AM Recurve grip (other versions include the IAM Barebow, the IAM Lowered Pivot Point and the IAM Compound), the default angle is set at 38 degrees, making it a mid grip.

Compared to the low WNS grip and most generic stock grips, the I AM Recurve grip offers a more defined lifeline and a flatter pressure area, which helps with shot alignment. Additionally, it optionally comes with a small rhomboidal shape with an anti-slip pattern right at the pressure point (approximately 2cm below the actual pivot point of the grip). This “Border Pressure Point” provides positive feedback when setting up and drawing.

The Master grip, on the other hand, promotes the “pointing with the thumb” shooting style, similar to what Brady does, and features a default slant on the pressure area. The lifeline edge is also defined and has a slight bulge, which you can feel at a pleasurable point in the center of your palm. Additionally, if you choose the lifeline ridge option, the 0.7mm protrusion will “click” into your lifeline when you set up your position and will disappear when at full draw.
